fixx occupies just the right middle space between anemic task managers and large unwieldy bug tracking systems. We needed a system simple enough that everyone could use it without significant training. We also needed a product which could handle the variety of different kinds of projects that we do, ranging from reminders to order supplies to traditional bug-tracking. fixx doesn't force my tasks into its own idea of what type of tasks it manages.
The support has been nothing short of outstanding, not just in getting fixx to work, but also in giving me input into fixx's future development.
The support has been nothing short of outstanding, not just in getting fixx to work, but also in giving me input into fixx's future development. hedgehog lab hasn't agreed with all my suggestions, but I can tell that they've carefully considered them. I don't have the feeling that fixx is being developed by a large soulless enterprise.
fixx has become an important organizational tool for us. We have fixx served as a web site off our local server. We do continuing maintenance and support for our clients, so we deal with a continuous avalanche of tasks coming all day long over email and the telephone. A couple of clicks is all it takes to start a new issue for a client and then we're assured that it won't slip through the cracks. fixx has become as essential a tool to us as a calendar.
It's been a bit surprising to realize just how often other contractors let their dates slip or projects languish. We pick up quite a lot of business from new clients based upon a reputation for reliability. Much of that is simply being able to use a calendar and fixx!
There are a lot of tasks which used to be too small to delegate but were still time-consuming and unproductive. Now I can delegate these to a colleague by setting up a new issue within fixx and inputting all the necessary details for them to be able to get on with it, leaving me to get some real work done.

Before fixx we kept our unshared task list as a text file and shouted a lot across the studio. We also tried a server-based CRM system that allowed us to share notes tied to particular clients and dates.
I like that fixx is web-based. My people just need a browser and access to the server to be able to use fixx. Since I can access individual tasks with just a URL, it was trivial to integrate it with my other organizational tools.
Since we decided not to let our system be open to the outside world, it's not set up for client access. We also don't use any of its planning features. It's nice that fixx doesn't mind much. Those features are there if we want that capability in the future.
